Unmanned surface vehicles (USV s) have broad applications in military and civilian fields, and the intelligent control system will playa key role in future complex and changing marine environments. At the same time, the collaborative control of multiple unmanned surface vehicles (MUSV s) has stronger practical significance. In this paper, we make a summary survey on the control and coordination technologies of USV s, including the autonomous navigation, the intelligent motion control, and the cooperative control for MUSVs. Further, to address the current problems and deficiencies of existing studies, we propose some suggested solutions for the next generation of the USVs, which may provide technical support for the future applications of modern USVs.
