With the development of the electric vehicle industry, a large number of decommissioned power batteries of electric vehicles bring great pressure to society every year. As efficient recycling mechanisms are still under construction, the main response is to echelon the use of decommissioned batteries and to centralize them for use in battery energy storage system (BESS). Based on the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) and productivity theory, this paper proposes the Levelized Profit of Energy, which is used to compare productivity per kW. h for differentiated energy storage projects. Through the analysis and comparison of different factors, it is proved that echelon utilization is not equal to prolonging capacity life, and it has a unique value in the whole life cycle. It shows that the echelon utilization link is effective for the whole life cycle.
