Shielding effectiveness (SE) is the most important parameter of electromagnetic shielding materials. But under the excitation of time domain electromagnetic pulse such as wide band electromagnetic pulse, how to characterize and calculate SE of shielding materials is not particularly clear. A systematic study has been finished for the purpose of clarifying SE of materials under the excitation of wide band electromagnetic pulse. We find that for the experimental objects, shielding effectiveness calculated based on "peak value reduction (SEPR)", "energy reduction (SEWR)" and "frequency domain SE based on FFT (SE FD )" are generally the same.
