This paper investigates the measurement methods of frequency converters phase noise transfer function. The typically used instrumentation and setups quantifying absolute and residual phase noise are discussed first. The possibility of extending the functionality of single-channel signal source analyzers by estimating the device phase noise transfer function was identified. The various hardware implmentations of the proposed technique are discussed and compared.
