The growing need for power system resiliency has stimulated the development of distributed, power-line, sensor networks. The sensor network could be used by utility operator to detect abnormal conditions and make appropriate decisions for grid reliability. This investigation provides some assessment of fault detection and fault location schemes as well as software to identify unintended islanding in high distributed energy resource (DER) penetration grid. Preliminary experiments and control-hardware-in-the-loop simulation tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed solution.
