Rubber tire gantry (RTG) is one of the most common operating platforms in container terminal [1]. The driver needs to correct the deflection manually as the RTG is easy to deviate from the track line during operation. In order to improve the efficiency of operations and reduce the workload of drivers during manual operation, an automatic correctional deflection method is proposed in this paper by using a direction switch strategy with model analysis of the different cases of deflections. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method has been tested experimentally at container terminal.
