Attenuation property of surface waves (SWs) propagating on medium coating plane conductor is investigated during a range of terahertz (THz) in comparison between dielectric and magnetic medium surface waveguide, providing magnetic medium causes higher loss than dielectric by theoretical analysis. In order to get rid of the limitation caused by waveguide geometry, we load a LC-layer on the medium coated, which brings freedom to create and move loss peak position in spectrum and provide a flexibility to wave isolation. An LC equivalent circuit model is applied here to explain the important frequency around LC resonant position. All the basic equations are developed for pure medium and LC-layer respectively and analytical results are given for demonstration the same time.
