A coplanar waveguide fed UWB flexible antenna with double band-notched characteristics is presented. These size of the antenna is and printed on ultra-thin liquid crystal polymer. The antenna is constituted with elliptic radiation patch, tapered microstrip feeder and trapezoid coplanar ground. Moreover, band-notched characteristic is realized by etching n-shaped groove on the microstrip feedline and etching elliptic single complementary split-ring resonator on the radiation patch. The antenna is fed by a linearly tapered CPW to further improve the impedance matching. The single-layered CPW-fed structure and the small size of the antenna make it easy to integrate with an RF front end. The measurement result shows that the antenna has return loss lower than -10 dB in 3.1GHz-10.6GHz and has the character of band-notched in 4.96GHz-5.98GHz and 8.08GHz-8.56GHz at the same time. The measured results demonstrate that the antenna is an omni-directional antenna both under flat and bent circumstances in return loss and radiation pattern results. The antenna is a suitable candidate for flexible UWB systems.
