In this article authors report a low cost mesoscope featuring its large field of view (FOV) up to 3.4mm and more compact outline dimensions in comparison with conventional multiphoton microscopes. It consists of a two-axis electromagnetic actuated FR4 dichroic scanner as well as customized objective lens with simultaneously a high numerical aperture (NA) (~0.7) and a large angle of view (AOV) (30 degrees). The FR4 dichroic scanner scans directly at the back focal plane of a customized objective lens. The low cost mesoscope allows efficiently recording neural activities in a large area and performs subcellular resolution images in low magnification.
