A simple U-slot microstrip patch antenna for wide band mm W beam scanning is designed and presented. The patch antenna is very simple and simulated result shows that the antenna has a wide relative bandwidth of 21.92% in the mmWave frequency band from 23.15GHz to 28.85GHz. Moreover, the patch's radiation pattern possesses a 100° beam width at 28GHz, providing the capability of large-angle beam scanning.
