A new set-up of a diffused laser light optically pumped small cesium beam frequency standard has been successfully experimentally tested. Both the short term stability (2/spl times/10/sup -11///spl radic//spl tau/) and the long term stability (3.5/spl times/10/sup -13/ for a day sample time) have been measured. The light frequency shift caused by diffuse light was measured and calculated.
