In this study, a time-frequency method based on VMD is applied to analyze the rub-impact fault of hydraulic turbine. The real failure case of large hydraulic turbine with rub-impact fault is employed for verifying the effectiveness of the proposed method. The experiment result has proven the validity of the VMD in detecting the rubbing fault.
