A novel SMA fed substrate integrated E-plane horn antenna is proposed in this paper. The antenna is built by binding two printed circuit boards. Copper strips are inserted at the interface between two circuit boards to support longitudinal current that is excited by an SMA adapter. Copper plated through holes are drilled along the propagating direction to support vertical current. A trapezoidal dielectric load using the same substrate material is used to improve gain and impedance matching.
