The significance of optimal distributed generations (DG) placement is to offer the appropriate locations and sizes of DG units. A novel technique is proposed in this paper for optimal placement of DG units in radial distribution system to reduce real power losses while satisfying operating constraints. The proposed method for optimal placement of DG units is developed based on a new mathematical formulation. The achievability of the technique has been verified on IEEE 69 and IEEE 118 bus distribution system. Up to 50% DG penetration level has been taken into account of total system load. The results are found encouraging when compared with latest approach.
