The use of simulation platforms for UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) can both increase the efficiency and safety for testing the control algorithms. The main contribution of this article is the development of a multi-sensor UAV simulation platform and the implementation of a multi-sensor device for realistic tests. The multi-sensor consists of one IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), a monocular camera and one customized ultrasonic sensor. Experimental results show that these sensors help to improve the robustness and practicability of vision based UAV control algorithms both in simulation platform and realistic test.
