A feasibility analysis of peer-to-peer microwave communications between two miniature sensor devices is carried out taking into account the statistical variability of the polarization mismatch between the transmit and receive antennas as well as variations of transmitted power. This method derives a model for the feasible data rate based on the realistic small node size using BPSK modulation, the distance between nodes, the propagation loss, present realistic values for the power capacity of energy source, and the antenna performance.
