This paper presents a method for simply and interactively modeling and reusing 3D sleeve. Firstly, 3D sketches of basic sleeve skeleton are generated based on the recognized body feature points and sizes, and the sleeve surface can be quickly constructed; secondly, a sleeve surface modification method driven by sketch is adopted to build complex sleeve shape more freely; finally, we joint the sleeve and garment mesh by using armhole seam lines as benchmarks, the sleeve and garment shape is preserved well and the connected mesh is smooth. An encoding algorithm is employed to obtain the sleeve design information from sketches as a template, and when decoding this template on a new garment, it automates the sleeve surface generation for existing sleeve reusing. Examples show that our technique can greatly improve the efficiency and the quality of sleeve design in garment CAD.
