Robustness is one essential requirement for watermarking systems. In order to improve robustness of watermarking systems, the purpose of this work is to design a new kind of watermarks based on balanced incomplete block designs (BIBD). The corresponding recognition rules for the proposed watermark are designed based on the structure information contained in the BIBD-based watermark. Experimental results show that both the true positive and the false negative rates of the proposed watermark are better than those of the random pattern under Gaussian noise.
