Energy markets are going through an unprecedented revolution, which impacts many aspects, such as electrical topology and market design enhancements. The future of the power markets is going to be decentralized, motivated by two factors: i) the increasing participation of renewable power in the electrical matrix and ii) the empowerment that the retail end-user is acquiring, including aspects such as distributed energy resources, and how the electrical matrix itself expands. One other factor that boost this tendency is the liberalization of power markets, including the possibility of the low-voltage end-user consumer (mainly households) to choose its energy supplier. Regarding this, Brazilian power market is discussing the full opening of its free market (ACL), which begins in 2024 for all the high-voltage consumers (mostly industries and commerce). This movement needs to be addressed with several aspects, with energy metering being the one of the main aspects. In this regard, this paper presents a novel technological solution developed for addressing this aspect, helping to solve a market design problem in Brazilian power market discussions.
