Nowadays, new energy vehicles have entered people’s lives to a greater extent, and safety issues have always been the focus of social attention. Therefore, the most important aspect of safety issues for cars is the accuracy and safety of car steering gears, Therefore, the design and research of automotive steering gear test benches are extremely important. After understanding the current research status of automotive steering gear test benches at home and abroad, this article mainly focuses on improving the degree of automation and introduces an automated control system to achieve automatic control and data recording of the test process, improve work efficiency and accuracy of data analysis. And analyze and study the testing methods of automotive steering gear, the basic structure and principles of rack and pinion automotive steering gear, and propose a testing method for designing a comprehensive steering gear testing platform. Based on the principle of modular structural design for the test bench, the overall framework and layout plan of the test bench, as well as the overall design of the test bench, were conceived.
