Along with the increasing scale of offshore wind farms (OWFs), the low-cost and lightweight characteristics of diode rectifier unit-based high voltage direct current (DRU-HVDC) integration technology have attracted much attention. Due to its large integration scale, the need for providing frequency support (FS) has arisen. Some FS control strategies for DRU-HVDC integrated wind turbines (WTs) have been proposed, but all of them more or less depend on the communication system. Thus, the communication-dependent FS control strategies are not conducive to the stability and economy of the system. Therefore, the distributed FS control strategy for DRU-HVDC integrated OWF is proposed. Furthermore, the efficacy of the proposed FS control strategy has been verified by PSCAD/EMTDC.
