Based on a three-dimensional chaotic system, a nonlinear system is constructed by adding a nonlinear equation with a new state variable in this paper. When the new state variable has an impact on the differential equation of the original chaotic system further, new transient chaos can be generated potentially within a finite time from the reconstructed nonlinear system with a combination of several appropriate parameters. A numerical example on a new three- dimensional chaotic system with a strange attractor verifies better the existence of new transient chaos in a reconstructed nonlinear system.
