The plasma sheath generated around a high-speed moving object is usually time-varying. The time-varying characteristics will have an impact on the electromagnetic (EM) scattering properties of the target, which is not conducive to the monitoring and identification of the target by ground radar stations. In this study, the backscattering and the radar cross section (RCS) of a double-exponential time-varying profile moving plasma target are studied by combining the shift-operator finite-difference time-domain (SO-FDTD) method and Lorentz transformation.
