The effective medium theory is proposed for analyzing the periodic honeycomb structure. The equivalent model and the effective permittivity are developed from reflection coefficient of the periodic unit. The accuracy of this method is then verified by comparing the reflection coefficients between the periodic honeycomb structure and the equivalent models, revealing a stronger agreement at different incidence angles than NRW method.
