Technologies for Ocean Sensing (TechOceanS) is a Horizon 2020 funded project aiming to develop state of the art ocean monitoring technology including ecogenomic samplers, biological and biogeochemical sensors, and microfluidic systems. The work presented in this paper demonstrates the design and development of key systems required by a system for the processing of immunoassays for the quantification of algal toxins and organic contaminants pollutants using immunoassays in the marine environment. The systems developed demonstrates, an adaptable fluorescence optical detection capable of being optimised for multiple commonly used fluorophores, microfluidic handling using centrifugal forces and precise temperature incubation.
