In order to monitor and analyze regional power load in real time and achieve the purpose of reasonable planning and usage of electric energy, a regional power load identification system based on whale optimization algorithm is designed. Base layer of the system uses regional power load data acquisition module to obtain power load data of different industries in the region and transmits the data package to application service layer through embedded 5G communication module in communication layer. Application service layer preprocesses the received data through load data cleaning and standardization module. After then, load data clustering module takes advantage of whale optimization algorithm combined with density peak clustering algorithm to cluster the preprocessed data. Whale optimization algorithm, with simple operation, few parameters, and strong ability to get out of local optimum, will quickly find the optimal solution and is suitable for various types of optimization problems. In power load data clustering, it shows outstanding convergence and stability. According to clustering result, regional power load identification module is used to create regional power load model to implement monitoring and analysis of regional power load data. Experimental result shows that the system is of good performance in regional power load data clustering and identification, which will effectively reflect power consumption of different power users and coordinate power from supply and demand side of power system.
