When experiencing DC fault disturbances, the transmission system may face transient power frequency overvoltage. Serious overvoltage is likely to cause off-grid accidents of renewable energy sources (RES) and hinders the consumption of them. Low voltage ride through (LVRT) control affects the extent of overvoltage of RES. It is urgent to optimize parameters of LVRT control through suitable analytical methods. This paper first analyzes the reasons of overvoltage for DC transmission system. Then the calculation method of terminal overvoltage peak value is proposed via vector relationship. Further, the influence of different equivalent reactive current coefficient on off-grid accident of renewable energy sources is analyzed. The range avoiding off-grid accident is derived. Finally, the simulation is used to verify the validity of the proposed method.
