In the surface coating industry today, coating a metal surface is a very important process needed for protection. The coating is always going to be important to prevent various metal surfaces from corroding. Researchers continually look for preferable and economical forms of surface coatings that can be applied to metals. The use of nanoparticles for various applications in different sectors, engineering inclusive has recently gained popularity. Nanoparticles find applications in manufacturing industries, electronics, and medicine to mention but a few. Globally, this is an elevating trend of waste-to-wealth transformation with many researchers considering agrowastes in particular as a viable alternative to developing coatings. This study is therefore a review of the recent advancements in the application of nano-coatings and the synthesis of nanoparticles for engineering purposes.
