According to the application of limited space, a vertically polarized cylindrically conformal TCDA array antenna with wide bandwidth is demonstrated in this paper. The array antenna takes a tightly coupled dipole array (TCDA) with double-layer frequency selective surfaces (FSS) superstrate and performs well at a band of 6GHz ~ 18GHz. And the array antenna adopts a beam forming in the radial direction of cylinder while realizing a beam scanning to ±45 degree in axial direction. Besides, a compact architecture is built to deal with the troubles caused by cylindrically conformal structure. The proposed array antenna has a great engineering significance in situations like cramped space and abnormal area.
