Great time consumption tracing cigarettes with abnormal physical index data on the integrated test stand, which leads to the problems such as inaccurate analysis of abnormal causes, delayed adjustment of equipment, and increased cost of quality. The model of the stepper motor was selected via programming, 3D modeling, simulation, and motion analysis. The key characteristic parameter—time consumption for cigarette clearing—was investigated. Next, a cigarette traceability system controlled by an SCM with a PC computer automatically sending commanders was designed for the integrated test stand based on a scheme. In addition, the time consumed in abnormal cigarette positioning was quantitatively analyzed by reference to the material inspection process of 3 brands. With a SODIM test stand in a making-packing workshop as the test object, the test results showed that after the system was applied, the time consumed in tracing abnormal cigarettes was shortened from the original average of 31.7 min to 0.7 min, and the efficiency was enhanced by over 3100%. This system can rapidly trace cigarettes and provide support for deep cause analysis.
