In recent years, many applications using paired RGB and Near-infrared (NIR) images have been proposed in camera vision and image signal processors. With the current progress of the CMOS image sensor technology, manufacturing a CMOS image sensor with a unique spectrum filter array is becoming mature. Different spectrum filter pixels integrate into the same chip produced in the industry, which supports the one-shot acquisition of each spectrum image signal. RGB and NIR-integrated CMOS Image Sensor is an example of this paper's discussion called RGB-IR Hybrid sensor. Regarding the RGB-IR filter array, two CFA types have been produced in the industry. The kind of CFA which is the paper discussion that half of the Red/Blue pixels are replaced with the NIR pixels but keep the G pixel the same. However, such CFAs have less color information to generate the RGB image. This paper presents a convenient interpolation use in the RGB-IR class of panchromatic arrays to improve the image quality like false color edge, zipper effect on edge, and noise besides compatibility with Bayer CFA of total RGB pixels sensor solution.
