A series of metamaterials consisting of cross and split rings have been proposed. The direction of the split ring's gap will determine the symmetric of these metamaterials. Six of these metamaterials have been fabricated and measured. The measurement results follow the simulation. The resonance point can be used as feature points to carry 0 and 1 codes messages, so these kinds of metamaterials can be used as a modulator in terahertz communication. And to make the metamaterials tune, CMOS is proposed to deposit in the gap of the split ring. Therefore, terahertz can be modulated purposive to transform messages.
