There is a growing demand for electricity generation all across the world. Non-conventional energy sources such as, solar photovoltaic (PV) cells play an essential role in generating electrical power because solar irradiation is available in abundance and is non-contaminated in nature. The PV output is less efficient and nonreliable because sun-based irradiation is varying all over the day. Therefore, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controllers are employed to boost efficiency and reliability, in terms of PV output power, voltage, and current. This research compares two MPPT controllers, such as a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and an artificial neural network (ANN) controller. The ANN-based MPPT controller provides smooth and improved output parameters as compared to the FLC controller. ANN also possesses a stable output waveform with less steady-state error. The MATLAB/SIMULINK software is used to run the model and examine the results.
