Introduction: Antiretroviral treatment (ART) alters the natural development of HIV infection and significantly reduces the presence of opportunistic infections (OIs). Objective: To identify and compare opportunistic infections (OIs) in patients with HIV / AIDS receiving antiretroviral treatment in a public hospital in Peru. Materials and methods: An observational prospective cohort study of 8 years of monitoring patients with HIV / AIDS who started antiretroviral therapy older 15-year-old was performed. Results: Out of 427 patients studied, 111 (26%) had at least one opportunistic infection. Patients who presented OIs had a mean CD4: 107.5 cells / ml, whereas this count was higher in patients without coinfection (p

Objetivo: Identificar y comparar las infecciones oportunistas (IOs) en pacientes con infección por VIH/SIDA que inician TAR en un hospital público de Perú.
