A 28-year-old woman with familial thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection syndrome and a mildly dilated aorta presented 3 days postpartum with a type A aortic dissection. This case illustrates the unpredictability of this disease and the challenges with risk stratification of women with underlying aortopathy contemplating pregnancy.
