Presented as part of the "Two is better than one (and many are better): Multi-echo fMRI methods and applications" symposium at the OHBM 2020 annual meeting. This presentation includes an overview of multi-echo fMRI, including a historical review of the potential and limitations to date, as well as recent change in pulse sequence availability and analysis methods that have addressed many of the earlier limitations. A critical examination of the remaining limitations will also be provided. A range of approaches to use multi-echo data for motion correction and denoting during preprocessing will be presented, along with data from several recent studies showing signal improvements.https://www.humanbrainmapping.org/files/2020/OHBM_Two.pdf
