This chapter elaborates on the correlation between domestic abuse protection notices and orders, definitions, breaches, and police roles. It explains the design of notices provides short-term breathing space for domestic violence victims to allow them to consider their next move following an incident. The Domestic Abuse Act (DAA) 2021 creates new notices and orders that replace the existing domestic violence protection notice (DVPN) and domestic violence protection order (DVPO). Meanwhile, unlike the DAPN, the Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) can include both prohibitions and requirements. The chapter elaborates on the guidance to police officers which suggests prohibitions that involve prohibiting access to premises or setting clear geographical restrictions such as how close to the premises the perpetrator is allowed.
