@@@@Highlights •A shape stabilized PCM is synthesized by using N-doped carbon derived from chitin.•The supercooling degree of CT8/SA is 1.06 °C with high crystallinity of 92.84 %.•CT8/SA owns ideal thermal reliability and favorable photothermal conversion of 74.12 %.•The high graphitization degree of CT8 improves the thermal conductivity of CT8/SA.•Hierarchical pore and doped N provide strong capillary force and hydrogen bond.
