Highlights •A core–shell LTA@LDH composite adsorbent is successfully fabricated.•The composite adsorbent presents synergism of micro-mesopore, retaining the advantages of both LTA and LDH.•Adsorption and desorption performance of LTA@LDH are much better than pure LTA.•A three-stages dehumidification model of LTA@LDH is proposed and well matched its sorption process.
