Highlights •Graphitic N-rich graphene (GNG) was obtained by a supramolecular assembly method.•The GNG calcined at 800 °C showed higher capability and stability to PMS activation.•Graphitic N was demonstrated to be the intrinsic active site for PMS activation.•Singlet-oxygen was the predominant reactive oxidative species for RhB degradation.
