Highlights •0D/2D MOF derived hierarchical flower-like ZnO/Co3O4 nanoheterostructure was synthesized by a simple solution mixing method at room temperature.•The flower-like ZnO/Co3O4 heterojunctions exhibited the excellent sensing properties for ppb-level acetone.•The enhanced properties are ascribed to the unique flower-like structure and p-n heterojunction.
