@@@@Highlights •Cinnamomum cassia is an aromatic plant with wide applications in traditional Chinese medicine.•CEO had strong antifungal activity showing the destruction of cell membranes.•29 metabolites were significantly altered after CEO treatment which suggested lipid disturbance.•Trans-cinnamaldehyde, δ-cadinol, ethylcinnamate, safrole, trans-anethole, and trans-cinnamyl acetate are antifungal functional components of CEO.
