The article presents a study which identifies an alkaline salt lake, focusing on a case study from the Permian Fengcheng Formation in Hashan-Wuxia area in China. It suggests that it can be identified that brine type is Na-CO30Cl and the ratio of HCO3/(Ca+Mg) in the inflow of the waters is near unity or a little bit more based on the hydrologic classification and brine evolution pathways of concetrating nonmarine waters.
