The article discusses research which examines the role of anti-aquaporin 4 (anti-AQP4) antibody in the conversion of longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis (LETM) to neuromyelitis optica (NMO). The study retrospectively analyzed thirty patients with LETM and divided into two group according to the presence of anti-AQP4 antibodies. It showed 60% of patients presented with anti-AQP4 antibodies and 83.33% anti-AQP4 (+) LETM patients converted to NMO.
