The article presents information on a study focusing on the effects of Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) -DP regions on Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Infection by sequencing of polymorphic coding exons and the corresponding 3' untranslated regions in a cohort. It mentions the identification of a novel variant associated with HBV recovery in some ethnic groups. It is suggested that the influence of the HLA-DP region on HBV recovery is due to levels of HLA-DPBl expression.
