The article examines the existing field of practice theory as it is exercised in relation to organizational phenomena. It identifies the empirical, theoretical, and philosophical approaches that relate to the what, how, and why of utilizing a practice lens. It also discusses the three principles of theoretical approach to practice which include the consequentiality of action, the action/structure and stability/change dualities, and the relational of the dualities in the context of theorizing routines. It says that the practice theory plays an important role in organizational scholarship to see and value the complexity of the sociomaterial world.
