The article discusses results of a study that investigates the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/gelatin composite fibers and the use of carbon nanotubes (CNT) to enhance their compatibilization and orientation. The study showed that adding a small amount of CNT increases the tensile strength of the PVA/gelatin fibers. A discussion on the reinforcement mechanism using a combination of two-dimensional wide-angle X-ray diffraction (2D-WAXD), differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is provided.
