The article presents a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of the female contraceptive method diaphragm with a candidate microbicide for sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention among women in Madagascar. Study shows that women wearing diaphragm had four times higher odds of diaphragm use during sex acts. It points out that women who never experienced an unwanted pregnancy tend to be more adherent users than those who had experienced. This suggests that the continuous use may help women attain high protection levels.
