Preparation and electrical properties of La0.1Ca0.9Ti0.9Zr0.1O3 as a novel electrolyte material for SOFCs

Abstract: The ceramic powders of La0.1Ca0.9Ti0.9Zr0.1O3 were prepared via a sol–gel auto-combustion method. Green compacts of the powders were sintered to densities higher than 94.3% of theoretical at the lower temperature (1350°C). The obtained ceramics showed a single-phase of orthorhombic perovskite. The conduction properties of the sample were systematically investigated by employing the techniques of AC impedance at 500–800°C. It was found that the La0.1Ca0.9Ti0.9Zr0.1O3 ceramic showed relatively high conductivity , and the conductivity increased with the increase in sintering temperature. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
