The article focuses on the study on the usefulness of total lymphocyte count (TLC) in predicting a risk of progression to death in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected Ugandan children within 12 months. It reveals that the risk of progression to death among the Ugandan children could not be predicted by the TLC. Accordingly, TLC alone cannot be used as a marker to predict mortality among them and suggests an analysis of the same case in the larger context to confirm the result.
